LGBTQ Relationship Therapy in LA California

You Deserve to Feel Safe and Seen in Your Relationships

If you’re part of the LGBTQ+ community and struggling in your relationship, you’re not alone, and you’re not “too much” or “too complicated.” Maybe you and your partner are caught in painful communication loops. Maybe past traumas or societal pressures are showing up in your relationship in ways that feel overwhelming. Or maybe you're trying to navigate different identities, needs, or expectations, and it’s starting to feel like you’re drifting apart.

As a licensed therapist serving clients in Los Angeles, I offer a safe and affirming space where LGBTQ+ individuals and couples can show up as their full selves. Here, your identity is never a problem to be solved; it’s something to be celebrated, explored, and honored in your relationships.

I'm Maya Attia, LMFT – and This Work Is Personal

I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and the founder of Talk with Maya Therapy. My practice is rooted in the belief that healing happens in the context of safety and connection. As someone who works extensively with LGBTQ+ clients, I understand the complex layers that can shape your experience of love, identity, and partnership.

Whether you’re exploring non-traditional relationship dynamics, facing challenges around intimacy or trust, or simply want to grow together with more intentionality, I bring a warm, collaborative, and affirming approach to therapy. No judgment. No assumptions. Just curiosity, care, and a deep respect for who you are.

What Brings You Here

Many of my clients come to me feeling stuck, longing for deeper connection but unsure how to get there. You might be:

  • Arguing more often and struggling to really hear each other

  • Feeling misunderstood, rejected, or unseen in your relationship

  • Carrying past wounds that are affecting your ability to trust or feel safe

  • Trying to navigate different communication styles, needs, or attachment patterns

  • Feeling the weight of internalized shame or societal pressure around your identity or relationship structure

LGBTQ relationship therapy in LA isn’t about “fixing” you or your partnership. It’s about creating space to understand each other better, heal old patterns, and build something rooted in authenticity and mutual care.

What Therapy Looks Like with Me

When you begin therapy at Talk with Maya, we’ll start by understanding what’s really going on beneath the surface. We’ll talk about your strengths, your challenges, and the dynamics that feel hardest to shift. I tailor my approach to your needs, drawing from modalities like Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Attachment Theory, and trauma-informed care.

Together, we’ll work to:

  • Improve communication and reduce reactivity

  • Rebuild safety and connection in your relationship

  • Process past wounds that may be impacting your bond

  • Create a deeper understanding of each other’s emotional worlds

  • Strengthen your relationship with yourself, too

Whether you're navigating early relationship stress or working through long-standing issues, therapy can provide the support and structure to grow, heal, and reconnect.

Healing Is Possible—And It’s Okay to Ask for Help

Therapy can be a place where you learn to trust again, not just your partner, but yourself. It can be a space to explore what love and connection mean for you, on your own terms. And it can be a powerful way to move toward the kind of relationship you really want: one that reflects your values, affirms your identity, and feels genuinely safe.

I work with LGBTQ+ couples and individuals throughout Los Angeles and across California via secure teletherapy. If you’re looking for a therapist who truly gets it, who understands the nuanced realities of queer relationships, I’m here to support you.
